Job Description - Operator

Location:
Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, District of Columbia, New York, and Virginia

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Commercial Drivers License, Class A or B
Complete all training as required by the Company

Other Skills and Abilities:
Must be able and willing to travel

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Directly supervises 4 to 12 employees in Foreman's absence. Carries out supervisory responsiblities in accordance with the organization's policies and project requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned):
Drive Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) of 26,001 lbs or more.
Operates equipment as required and qualified.
Assists Foreman and supervises crew in Foreman's absence.
Assumes the role of competent person on the crew in Foreman's absence.
Directs and helps other crew members distribute materials throughout the job site as required.
Helps other crew members with the installation of material, such as tighten bolts, hang panel, move material, and cleanup of project site.
Performs routine maintenance on equipment including minor repairs.
Cleans and inspects truck daily.
Completes all required paper work as directed by Company policy and Foreman.
Verifies all warning and safety devices are installed and operating as required.
Responsible for following all company safety policies.

Education and/or Experience:
High School diploma or general education degree (GED).
One to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or blue print form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, decimals, and the ability to convert English to Metric.

Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence in English. Must be able to communicate with other employees and State Inspectors as required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to use hands and fingers to operate machine controls and reach with hands and arms.  The employee is required to stand, walk, sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions.  The employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibration, vehicular traffic near work area and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.  The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.

Personal Protective Equipment:
The Equipment Operator will be required to wear all safety equipment as mandated by Company Safety Policies.

This employee will be responsible for the health and safety of employees under his/her jurisdiction and will be held accountable for the proactive enforcement of all Safety Policies and Programs
